Music Festival

2009-2010

The seventh year festival was exclusively for Ragam, Tanam and Pallavi. Vibrant young artistes rendered thought-provoking pallavis during the four day RTP festival. Dr. Sridhar, IAS, was the Chief Guest of this year’s inaugural function.  Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna presided over the function and Dr. B.M. Sundaram was the Guest of Honor.  The inaugural concert was a violin duet performed by Prof. T.N. Krishnan and Smt. Viji Krishnan.

Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam:

Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam is ideally an exposition of various great composers of Carnatic music apart from the well-known trinity, pre-trinity and post-trinity composers.  A program under this category comprises of a lecture on the musical contributions of a particular composer followed by the rendition of a few of his/her compositions. During the year a number of lectures and concerts were held categorized under Vaggeyakara Vaibhavam.

This program is a platform for instrumental music – more specifically of instruments which belong to the south Indian classical music genre. Chennai Fine Arts has remained one of the pioneers in supporting instrumental music concerts.
